Commercial Outdoor Furniture Restrapping, Reslinging, Repairing and Refinishing
When your furniture is no longer ‘new’ and is stained and unsightly, what are the various options to rectify that situation most efficiently and affordably?
The first thing is to keep your furniture ‘newer looking for longer’ – clean it up while you can – with proper cleaning and maintenance.
Here’s a few valuable tips:
The second thing is to consider the quality and safety of your furniture before going any further. It’s worthy to note that if your furniture was purchased at a big box store, it likely is imported.
If it is imported, it likely is Not made with standard American construction and materials. In that case, it may not be ‘doable’ with our parts and materials that are available here.
For US-made furniture, here’s a few valuable tips:
We will be happy to review photos and information that you send to us, evaluate your furniture, answer any questions and provide no charge estimates on request.
Several levels of Refurbishing
There are several levels of Refurbishing Outdoor Furniture.
As part of this process at each level, worn or missing nylon glides will be replaced, as needed, if available.
-
Level One: Restrapping of Strap furniture, particularly pool chaises and chairs.
This is relatively quick and inexpensive if you are in an area with good resources. It takes a couple weeks on average and is well below the replacement cost of new furniture.
-
Level Two: Reslinging of Sling furniture, which is a bit more complex, and is a bit more expensive.
It takes 3-5 weeks on average and is still well below the replacement cost of new furniture.
-
Level Three: Weld Repair & Touch up
Weld repair is generally a function of Complete Refinish. Nearby straps must be replaced, or slings removed. The repaired area needs to be touched up at minimum, better to be repainted entirely. In Complete Refinish, all of this is fully covered. However, we sometimes do smaller spot repairs.
Each repair of any type is considered case by case.
-
Level Four: Complete Refinish
Our Platinum Level Service is Complete Refinish. We will strip the frame down to the metal, then inspect every weld for cracks.
The ratchets, hardware, braces, etc. - the entire frame is checked for issues. Most repairs are ‘included’ in Complete Refinish unless they are excessive or extreme. Any extreme repairs not included will be duly noted and agreed on before the work begins.
Once all repairs have been completed, the frames are sandblasted: the very best way to prepare the metal, then the frames are electrostatically powder coated with high grade powder coat paint, which is baked on. After that, the frames are restrapped, reslung, regilded and are truly ‘like new.’
Whereas most any grade of American-made Outdoor Furniture can be restrapped or reslung for ‘much less’ than the cost of new furniture (purchased from us at wholesale prices as opposed to ‘Retail’)… the same is not always true of Complete Refinish.
Complete Refinish is very much detail-oriented and labor-intensive, therefore it is expensive. If you think about it, the main difference between Refinishing and New is the cost of the new Raw frame. Versus the cost of the labor and materials to Strip the old frame. Everything else in the process – all the materials and their installation – is about the same.
All things considered; you’ll likely save about 20-25% by refinishing standard furniture versus buying new furniture.
Assuming basic repairs and no other over-riding issues.
We’re going to make it look ‘like new’ again, absolutely. Keep in mind that you can’t always fully cover old damages, but they can definitely be minimized.
Also please keep in mind, you’ll typically do the work in two loads, half and half (so you have furniture to use).
Therefore, it costs twice as much shipping and takes twice as long to complete. However, in the end, it’s a job well done. Our clients are satisfied – if not ecstatic – with the results.

In Conclusion
The real value of Complete Refinish is when you have what I call ‘Special’ furniture, that is furniture that isn’t standard, that is very expensive and very nice. It likely costs about the same to Refinish that furniture, yet the furniture is more valuable, therefore the savings are greater.
However, saving 20-25% is quite a big deal for many budgets. We refinish hundreds of pieces at a time from Name Brand Properties and Waterparks all over this area.
To close out this topic, we will give you our actual warranties for New and Refurbish, below.
Standard Commercial Warranties for Refinishing are from everyone, one year.
You might ask why is it a one year warranty on a Refinished powder coat finish, when a New finish is five years and everything else is the same? The difference is the used frame – often not even our frame – that has been used for an extended period, under unknown circumstances, thus the integrity of it is or may be diminished to some degree.
Our Refinished furniture looks like New for a very long time – if you maintain it well – and it should last you for several years in normal use.
In extreme use, such as with Waterparks, they refinish their furniture every year or two typically. They still love our powder coat finish because it lasts longer, looks good longer than what they had before, as do our straps, slings, frames and our great service in general. We take great care of our customers.
Here’s our Warranties.
